This is essentially a non-re-circulating active system; traditionally, drip irrigation set up on a wide table that catches the runoff and is piped away. Most commonly used for large scale commercial hydroponics.
The advantage of run-to-waste systems is that nutrient levels remain consistent with every feed, including pH and EC. Also, there is a reduced risk of contaminating all of the plants in the system in the case of plant disease. Checking and monitoring the pH and EC of the run-off will indicate how plants are growing. Plants get fresh nutes every feed..as opposed to drinking its own 'waste' every feed, over and over again! 😃
